Remember that low price should not be the only criteria for selection of Christmas lights. It is very important to look for quality as well because good quality ensures the safety of your family and friends during the Christmas celebration. Double check each bulb for any damage or loose connectors and make sure the wiring is properly insulated.

  1. 2.    Pre-Test The Lights:

The useful precaution you should take before Christmas lighting installation is to pre-test them. This will identify the faults and allow you to take care of any damaged bulbs, worn out insulation or frayed wires, beforehand.

  1. 3.    Do Not Overload The Lights:

Over loading the string of hanging lights is very dangerous as it can cause fire. Therefore, keep the string size, small. Do not connect more than 3 incandescent light bulbs together in a string. In case of LED light bulbs, you can increase the number a bit but preferably, you should not!

  1. 4.    Carefully Mount The Outdoor Wires:

Utmost care must be taken while mounting the wires in the outdoors. As a precaution, try to keep the wiring path as far from electrical service lines, as possible. Moreover, do not use nails or other sharp and metallic objects like staple pins for fastening the wires as they can damage the wire insulation and can prove to be dangerous. Also, protect the whole bulb-wire assembly from getting wet by any means.

  1. 5.    Carefully Fasten The Indoor Wires:

Indoor setting of wires for the Christmas lighting installation also demands as much attention as the outdoor mounting. Avoid running the wires and extension cords beneath the carpets, rugs and furniture. Moreover, try to fasten the wires away from the pathways or areas with high foot traffic.

  1. 6.    Turn Of The Lights Before Sleeping:

Quite commonly, people like to keep their Christmas lights switched on for the whole Christmas night, even after everyone goes to bed. Thus is very unsafe as there would be no one to watch out in case of any potential problems. Turning off the lights before going to bed, can save you and your family from any mishap.

All this being said, we wish you and your loved ones, a very bright and safe Christmas!
