The kind of residential lighting, furniture and décor affects the life of the people living in a house. Since every resident has his own likes, dislikes and preferences, residential lighting should be installed keeping in mind the needs and interests of everyone in the home. Today, market offers us a wide range of colours, sizes and styles of indoor as well as outdoor lights to choose from.

Among the various styles of indoor residential lighting, Chandeliers give the most glamorous yet elegant touch to any room. These lights when fixed in kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, study room and even dining room, transform the whole atmosphere of the space.

Due to wide range of innovative designs, styles and colours available, Chandelier shopping can be a bit tricky. So here are some points, which should be considered while selecting chandeliers for your home;

ü  Pricing: Some chandeliers are highly expensive while some are in quite affordable range of price. Many a times, buying used chandeliers prove to be a good option, however, keep in mind that buying second hand doesn’t always mean buying at half price. Some antique and finely renewed chandeliers can cost into millions as well. The wise thing to do is to keep searching until you hit a jackpot by finding a well priced chandelier, fitting in your budget and fulfilling your requirements at the same time.

ü  Style: There are countless styles of chandeliers available in the market which makes the choice difficult. It never hurts to roughly pre-decide what style you want, before stepping out for shopping. Would you prefer an antique look, or contemporary? If you want to make it glamorous, looking for pendant lights might be a good idea. If you prefer to have the option of controlling the light intensity for creating the intended room atmosphere, dimmer chandeliers would be a perfect fit.

ü  Size: Size is another important thing to consider while purchasing chandeliers. It is good to have an idea of the room size in square feet. Generally a chandelier with diameter of 17-20 inch fits a 10 by 10 feet or smaller room. Larger rooms can accommodate a chandelier having diameter of 26 to 36 inch, depending on size and style.
